Serving Jewellers & Horologists Since 1947
Celebrating 78 years…
H S Walsh & Sons have been a leading supplier of tools, equipment, clock and watch materials to the jewellery and horological trades for 78 years. Serving clients from individual designer makers and independent retailers to large industry groups such as the Company of Master Jewellers, the Signet Group and Rolex, we are renowned for our excellent customer service.
With branches in the Jewellery Quarter, Birmingham and Hatton Garden, London we are at the heart of the trade, offering person to person sales, backed up with help, advice and demonstrations from our knowledgeable staff, many with decades of experience.
Our head office in Biggin Hill, Kent, supports our branch structure, handles our ecommerce through our website www.hswalsh.com and manages our corporate partner needs. We not only serve the domestic market but trade worldwide, exporting to jewellers & jewellery makers, watchmakers, engravers, diamond setters, metal polishers, silversmiths, goldsmiths, gemmologists and many other trades in over 150 countries.
We are proud to work with some key industry brands such as Elma, GRS, Bergeon and Horotec and are UK & Ireland agents for both Witschi Electronic AG horological testing equipment and Sunstone Orion laser and pulse arc welding machines.
Grayson Time Management
Our commercial clock division, Grayson, deals with the design, installation, servicing and restoration of large scale clocks and time management systems. From commissions for artists, designing and installing bespoke clocks for TFL, to supplying sports stadiums and funeral directors with unique and memorable timepieces, our work can be seen around the globe.
We manufacture many of our clocks in-house; we offer restoration services onsite or back at the workshop and can come and see you on location to assess jobs or projects.
Happy to deal with supplying a loved one with a calendar clock so they don’t lose track of the days, a small clock for your local cricket club or twelve floors of a trading bank that need hundreds of clocks working off a network synchronised system!
We can supply, repair and/or service: pavilion clocks, bank clocks, Twemco flip clocks, tower clocks, world time zone clocks, church clocks, indoor clock, outdoor or exterior clocks, Moser Baer clocks, school and hospital clock systems, street furniture clocks and one off time pieces, waterproof industrial clocks or indeed factory time managements systems.
We also specialise in clocks to help people living with Dementia & Alzheimer's. Our dementia clocks are approved by the DSDC at The University of Stirling.
Our HS Walsh History
The company was founded by Paddy Walsh in 1947 operating from his own home in Beckenham, Kent. By 1951 the company had grown, employing 3 people including Paddy’s son Desmond and took on it’s first premises. The company moved twice more before settling in its well known former head office location in Beckenham in 1968.
In 1973 they acquired E Gray & Son, and used its prominently placed building on the Clerkenwell Road as the Central London branch for the whole business. In 1988 Walsh opened a branch in the Birmingham Jewellery Quarter and in 1996 moved their London branch, more centrally into Hatton Garden.
In 2002 Desmond Walsh, now having been Chairman for over 40 years, decided to retire and the company was passed over to the senior management team, including current CEO Patrick Sheehan. In 2010 the decision was made that the company had again, outgrown the capabilities of their Beckenham site and the move was undertaken to shift the head office operations, warehousing and Grayson’s workshops to a unit on Biggin Hill Airport. From here, the company continues to grow it’s customer base, product offering and services. Today you can pop into any of our sites to buy or get the best advice on tools an equipment from the traditional to the cutting edge.
In September 2024, the Wheatsheaf brand, established in 1898, became part of the HS Walsh family, further developing our product offering and ensuring the continuity of this much loved and trusted industry staple.
Today, we have a fantastic team of 34 people renowned for excellent customer service both in person and online. We look forward to supporting your jewellery and horological needs.
Having served the Royal Household of Queen Elizabeth II since 2016, we were absolutely ecstatic to be awarded a new Royal Warrant from his Majesty the King in December 2024. Whilst the warrant is granted for our services to the Royal Household it was by no means freely given and all warrant holders were also assessed on their commitment to sustainability, the environment, and support for heritage skills and community. In undertaking the application, we confirmed our ongoing commitment to these areas and our responsibility to the future of the horology and jewellery industries and we were one of only 386 companies previously holding a single Royal warrant of Appointment to Queen Elizabeth II, to have their Warrant pass to the King.
CEO Patrick Sheehan FBHI says:
"We were honoured to serve her Majesty and immensely proud that His Majesty, King Charles has bestowed his own Warrant to us. We can continue to supply and be of service to the Royal Household."
