Biggin Hill braves 5k run to raise money for charity

Saturday 20 June saw some of our Biggin Hill team take part in the Biggin Hill Airport Annual 5k charity run at sunrise!

Despite the rather early and humid start, our runners got themselves to the start line and enjoyed 'flying' along the runway before it opened for the day's flights, along with almost 600 other runners.  We also had a volunteer marshal from our team, who kept the runners going with some great music and encouragement at the 4k point!

The runway is most definitely not as flat as it looks - the Biggin Bump does exist(!) but the team did brilliantly, both in taking part and also raising £560.  This, together with the airport's fundraising for the event, raised an amazing £12,500 for the airport's 3 charity partners: RAF Benevolent Fund, Aerobility and Scotty's Little Soldiers.

Here's to going again in 2027 and growing our team of runners and our fundraising further!  Thanks to everyone for your support including the Spitfire Cafe, where we celebrated afterwards & the medals, which were handcrafted by the local community project The Biggin Hill Shed.
