Hairspring Degreasing Solution Bergeon 2652-0050 B-DIP (One Dip) - HH432
Brand: Bergeon
Bergeon 2652-0050 B-Dip Cleaning Solution. For cleaning balance hairsprings, jewels clogged with hardened oil. Removes dirt and grease. B-DIP does not dissolve the shellac. Highly flammable liquid and vapour.
For cleaning balance springs, jewels clogged with hardened oil, lifts, etc. If the spring is not too gummy or dirty, the complete balance may be placed in the solution.
1. Move gently back and forth for a few seconds and the coils will free themselves.
2. The complete balance can be taken out, laid on a piece of paper for a few seconds so that the excess solution runs off.
3. Complete the drying process by holding the last coil of the spring up so that the coils spiral. In a few seconds the spring will be dry. Nothing else is necessary no need to place in sawdust or to take the bench bellow. If the spring is too dirty or there are too many layers of gum, it is best to take the spring off the balance:
1. Place the spring in a smaller bottle containing B-DIP, shake the bottle a few times until coils are free and the spring clean.
2. Then place on paper and spiral while drying by placing on a broach. Since most gum is the result of the improper removing of the ammonia residue that is found in machine cleaning solution, and then this residue mixing with oil, we suggest the safe practice of keeping hairsprings out of cleaning machines and washing every spring in B-DIP before assembling the movement. You will then be sure that the spring is clean, free of any perspiration that may have gotten on it, and that a rust inhibiting action has been accomplished. B-DIP does not dissolve the shellac.
