Luxi Blue Polishing Compound - TP2504
Brand: Luxi
LUXI® Blue Polishing Compound is the standard first-stage LUXI compound for gold, silver, bronze and brass, providing a balanced combination of cutting performance and gloss after proper abrasive preparation.
LUXI Blue is designed to begin the polishing process by reducing remaining preparation marks, refining the surface and creating a dense, even working surface before progressing to the final polishing stage. It should be used after grinding or sanding has properly prepared the surface and is not intended to replace abrasive preparation or correct deep scratches, casting defects or other significant surface imperfections.
With a Cut rating of 6 and Gloss rating of 8, LUXI Blue provides a controlled first-stage action with a relatively high level of gloss. It is an ideal starting point for normal polishing work on gold, silver, bronze and brass. If the remaining preparation marks require greater cutting action, the LUXI system can be escalated to LUXI Yellow, Gray or Black rather than relying on excessive pressure or additional compound.
LUXI Blue can be used with suitable polishing wheels and tools according to the size, shape and surface being worked. For best results, use a clean, correctly prepared polishing wheel and apply the compound sparingly. The wheel should remain the main working body, with the compound used to activate the polishing contact rather than being applied excessively.
Apply the compound lightly to the clean polishing tool and work in controlled passes, regularly inspecting the surface. If scratches or preparation marks remain clearly visible, check the abrasive preparation, wheel condition and compound selection before moving to a finer finishing compound. Once the first-stage surface is even and properly formed, clean the workpiece thoroughly before progressing to the finishing stage.
LUXI Formulation
LUXI compounds are water-based, silica-free and animal-fat-free, offering a modern alternative to traditional polishing compounds.
The silica-free formulation contains no crystalline silica, avoiding the specific respiratory hazards associated with inhaling respirable crystalline silica dust. Appropriate dust extraction and personal protective equipment should always be used during polishing, but the absence of crystalline silica is an important consideration when choosing a polishing compound.
The animal-fat-free formulation uses a water-soluble binder rather than traditional animal fats. This helps create a cleaner polishing process, with residues that are easier to remove from the workpiece, polishing wheels and equipment. The water-based formulation also helps reduce the greasy residue often associated with traditional fat-based compounds.
Together, these properties make LUXI a cleaner, modern alternative to traditional polishing compounds, combining easier cleanup and a more considered formulation with the controlled cutting and polishing characteristics required for professional jewellery and metalworking applications.
