Luxi Asian Blue Vegan Polishing Compound - TP2502

LUXI® Asian Blue Polishing Compound is the most aggressive compound in the LUXI range, designed for intensive first-stage polishing and scratch removal on hard metals and difficult alloys.

LUXI compounds are water-based, animal fat-free and silica-free, formulated with an aluminium oxide abrasive in a water-soluble binder. This provides effective cutting performance while making residue easier to remove after polishing.

Asian Blue is particularly suited to platinum, titanium, stainless steel, Co–Cr, hard bronzes, hard white-gold alloys, spring silver and Ag–Pt alloys. It can also be used on gold, silver and brass, particularly on large, flat and open surfaces where a highly aggressive first-stage compound is required.

With a Cut rating of 10 and Gloss rating of 4, LUXI Asian Blue is designed for intensive first-stage polishing, refining the surface and removing visible marks left by abrasive preparation before progressing to finer polishing compounds. For best results, the surface should be properly prepared beforehand, with LUXI recommending preparation to at least P400, with P600 or finer preferred, depending on the material and desired finish.

Asian Blue can be used with sisal, Split-lap, hard stitched cotton wheels and small stiff-bristled brushes, making it suitable for both large open surfaces and difficult areas such as recesses, inside corners and complex relief.

Apply the compound sparingly to a clean polishing tool and work in short passes, regularly inspecting the surface. Once the first polishing stage is complete, remove any remaining compound and metal residue before moving to a finer LUXI compound.

LUXI Formulation

LUXI compounds are water-based, silica-free and animal-fat-free, offering a modern alternative to traditional polishing compounds.

The silica-free formulation contains no crystalline silica, avoiding the specific respiratory hazards associated with inhaling respirable crystalline silica dust. Appropriate dust extraction and personal protective equipment should always be used during polishing, but the absence of crystalline silica is an important consideration when choosing a polishing compound.

The animal-fat-free formulation uses a water-soluble binder rather than traditional animal fats. This helps create a cleaner polishing process, with residues that are easier to remove from the workpiece, polishing wheels and equipment. The water-based formulation also helps reduce the greasy residue often associated with traditional fat-based compounds.

Together, these properties make LUXI a cleaner, modern alternative to traditional polishing compounds, combining easier cleanup and a more considered formulation with the high-performance cutting and polishing characteristics required for professional jewellery and metalworking applications.
