Luxi Green Polishing Compound - TP2508

LUXI® Green Polishing Compound is a controlled low-temperature polishing compound designed for small tools, felt and cotton carriers, particularly where heat control and precise polishing are important.

LUXI Green is particularly suited to platinum, titanium, coatings and delicate surfaces, making it useful for detailed work where conventional polishing wheels or more aggressive compounds may generate excessive heat or remove more material than required. It is especially well suited to small areas and the inside of rings, where controlled contact and low-temperature polishing are important.

With a Cut rating of 7 and Gloss rating of 8/9, LUXI Green provides a useful combination of controlled cutting and high gloss. It can be used after proper abrasive preparation to refine the surface and remove remaining preparation marks before progressing to a final polishing stage.

LUXI Green is designed for use with cotton and felt small tools, allowing precise access to areas that are difficult to polish with larger wheels. The choice of carrier and tool speed should be adapted to the size, geometry and material of the workpiece, with particular attention paid to heat generation when working on sensitive surfaces.

Apply the compound sparingly to a clean polishing tool and work in short, controlled passes, regularly inspecting the surface. Avoid excessive pressure, heat or overloading the tool with compound. The polishing tool should remain the main working body, with only a small amount of LUXI compound used to activate the contact zone.

Once the required first-stage surface has been achieved, remove any remaining compound and metal residue before progressing to a finer LUXI finishing compound. Use a separate clean tool for the finishing stage to prevent contamination.

LUXI Formulation

LUXI compounds are water-based, silica-free and animal-fat-free, offering a modern alternative to traditional polishing compounds.

The silica-free formulation contains no crystalline silica, avoiding the specific respiratory hazards associated with inhaling respirable crystalline silica dust. Appropriate dust extraction and personal protective equipment should always be used during polishing, but the absence of crystalline silica is an important consideration when choosing a polishing compound.

The animal-fat-free formulation uses a water-soluble binder rather than traditional animal fats. This helps create a cleaner polishing process, with residues that are easier to remove from the workpiece, polishing wheels and equipment. The water-based formulation also helps reduce the greasy residue often associated with traditional fat-based compounds.

Together, these properties make LUXI a cleaner, modern alternative to traditional polishing compounds, combining easier cleanup and a more considered formulation with the controlled cutting and polishing characteristics required for professional jewellery and metalworking applications.
